There is more great news in the restaurant world this week! The powerhouse, Kyleena Falzone, owner of the Secret Stash and Bonez, has partnered with Jeff Hermanson to develop and manage both The Last Steep and create the new restaurant in the old Montanya’s building! These two are absolutely the best in the business and HUGE supporters of the community. I am super excited to see what they create together!

I think there is good news coming from the Town Council this week regarding Short Term Rentals. They have been doing a major review of the current STR regulations and gathering a lot of community feedback. It sounds like they aren’t going to make any major changes to the current regulations and should start allowing new licenses soon! At the same time, Gunnison County has finalized the plans for the new affordable housing development by Riverland. This project would create 231 new housing units in a mix of attached and detached units.

Finally, First Ascent Coffee which is made locally in Crested Butte, was just sent to the International Space Station with NASA’s SpaceX Crew 5 Mission!! Local owners, Alison and Mark Drucker have been perfecting their instant coffee recipes for backpacking and outdoor adventures. Mark Drucker said, “Here our coffee is made in this small mountain town in Colorado by this small company and it’s going to outer space,” he says. “I like the idea that there’s an astronaut up there drinking our coffee who’s super psyched before they start a day of doing whatever astronauts do on a space station.”
