I have exciting news for all of my Texas (and any connecting through Texas) friends!! Starting June 30th, JSX airline is offering direct flights to Gunnison from Dallas and Austin, TX! This is a boutique, semi-private airline but the prices seem to be really reasonable. I ran a search for flights from Dallas to Gunnison in July and it was $482, round trip! It is a small plane, only 30 seats so I would plan ahead if you can. The best part of this flight is that you don’t have to deal with TSA and security!

If you’re planning on doing some camping this summer, pay attention to the latest rules. There is no longer any dispersed camping in any of the 6 major camping areas surrounding Crested Butte. This means that there is only designated sites that you’re allowed to use on a first come, first serve basis. Very few of the areas allow reservations except in campgrounds like Oh Be Joyful. The idea is to create more sustainable designated campgrounds to protect the surrounding environment from overuse.

It is still quiet in Crested Butte both with tourism and real estate for the most part, which is very typical this time of year. We are seeing multiple offers on almost every condo that hits the market in Mt. Crested Butte under $900,000 but especially so on the units below $700,000. This is likely to continue and even increase to single family homes as the snow melts and tourism returns. Buyers are still feeling confident with getting a loan and entering into bidding wars.
