It is official! We hit the 300″ of snow mark! Our snow total is now 306″. This is only the 5th time this has happened since they started tracking snow amounts in 1989 if that helps you understand how special it is to have this much snow. I was talking to my friend last night that lives in Irwin (year round, ya she is hard core) but they have 520″ at their house. She showed me a picture of her on their deck and the snow was 6′ over her head! If you didn’t know, the only way to get to Irwin in the winter is via snowmobile so it has been epic up there this year.
Sadly, even with all of this snow, the ski area closes on April 2nd! Only 9 days left to hit the slopes. Do you remember when closing day was also naked ski day? Those were some crazy times, LOL! Now you might see a few “streakers” but the resort has cracked down on nudity. The craziest costumes are still encouraged! Closing weekend is always a blast so I hope you can make it up to get the last lift served turns for the season in Crested Butte.
In my career, the years we have so much snow, real estate tends to be slower. That is definitely the case this year with the combination of higher interest rates. It is hard to look at buying a house that is almost completely buried with 300″ of snow. However, there is a ton of pent up buyer demand and I am predicting a really busy spring and summer selling season.
Did you know that over half of the properties sold this year so far were purchased with a mortgage? That’s right, there are still more people financing than paying cash. Watch my video to learn about how important it is to shop for your mortgage.
Have a great weekend!
